Send an email blast with Email Studio

Design a newsletter, pick who gets it, pace the send, and read the opens and clicks afterwards.

Email Studio is where you write and send bulk email: a monthly newsletter, a gear sale, a note to everyone on a trip. The preview on the right is the actual email — you click into it to type. The left panel adds and reorders blocks and sets links. Anyone who has unsubscribed is always left out. Marketing → Emails lists every draft and every send, with the numbers.

Design the email

  1. Open Marketing → Email Studio. Fill in Internal name (only you see it), Subject line and Preview text. Issue label is the small line under your logo.
  2. Choose Section builder. Add blocks with the buttons at the bottom of the left panel: Heading + text, Text + image, Color banner, Promo band, Tip box, Button only.
  3. Click any text in the Live preview and type. Enter confirms a single-line field. Image URL and Button link are set in the block’s card on the left.
  4. Use ↑ ↓ to reorder a block and ✕ to delete it. Switch Desktop / Mobile above the preview to check both.
  5. Tick “Add a Leave a review box at the bottom” only when a review ask fits. Press Save draft.
TipPrefer raw HTML? Switch to HTML and paste into the HTML body. The email uses whichever mode is active when you save, and switching asks first if you’d lose the other. Scripts never run in a saved newsletter, so a pasted template can’t break the admin.

Pick the audience and send

  1. Under Send to, choose Newsletter list (contacts who opted in — course buyers are added automatically), Everyone (every contact you may email), A trip, A class, Everyone in training, or Pick people. A line under the chips says what each means.
  2. Watch the recipient count. If it is 0 the studio says why — usually nobody has opted into the newsletter list yet on a new shop — and offers Everyone instead.
  3. Set Send speed. Automatic sends right away under 200 people and spreads a bigger list over 3 hours. The longer options (up to 3 days) are for warming a fresh sending domain.
  4. Check the From line shown above the buttons — that is what recipients see. A shop without its own sending domain goes out from DiveDesk’s shared address with your name on it; email hello@divedesk.io to send from your own domain.
  5. Press Send me a test. Your own address is filled in; change it to send the test somewhere else. Unsaved edits are saved first, because the send uses the saved record.
  6. Press Send email → and confirm. Each person gets their own copy; nobody sees another address.
CarefulThe “Leave a review” box only appears when your Google review link is set (Website → Footer & links), and the footer needs your mailing address (Website → Contact details) — bulk email is required to carry one. The studio flags both.
CarefulSending the same newsletter twice is allowed, but the studio stops to ask. “Send again” really does send everyone a second copy.

Why pacing and the separate domain matter

A big list sent in one minute from a domain that normally sends twenty messages a day looks like a compromised account to Gmail. That happened once and put class confirmations and signing links in spam. Bulk mail now goes out from a separate marketing sending address (set up for your shop by DiveDesk) so a spam complaint on a newsletter never touches your course email. Every blast also carries one-click unsubscribe headers, so Gmail and Yahoo can show their own Unsubscribe button.

Read the results

  • After a send, Email analytics appears under the preview: Sent, Opened, Clicked, Total clicks, Unsubscribed, plus Most-clicked links. Press ↻ Refresh.
  • Open rate is approximate — Apple Mail pre-loads images. Clicks are the reliable signal.
  • Every link is tagged with a campaign name shown in the analytics box; use it in GA4 under Reports → Acquisition → Traffic acquisition to see visits and purchases.

The class-day blast

On Training → In Training, press 📣 Email upcoming class days. The first click shows how many people are on the pool, lake, Nitrox and CPR lists and how many classes each will see; pick a Pace and press again to send. Students land on a list automatically from what their course still requires (the Pool-day / Lake-day / Nitrox / CPR email list flags on the contact), and each email links to your classes page to book.
